Counselling
About Counselling :
The therapeutic relationship I offer is basically person-centred, meaning that it is empathic, non-judgemental and genuine so clients can safely process their choice of issues, at their own pace. My work as a therapist is to understand my clients as if I were in their place. By communicating the thoughts and feelings which emerge through talking brought by the clients within the trust of the therapeutic relationship, a client is enabled not be alone with their issues by exploring their feelings safely alongside another person, which can lead to therapeutic change.
My further training and CPD since qualifying as a counsellor has given me more helpful theoretical therapy models to hold in mind such as attachment, human development and simple models of how the brain may work, Empathic Anger Management and trauma responses, and I apply this through relevant sharing of anything that may help inform the processing work for the client. I usually work in a face-to-face meeting space, however, it may suit some clients to work across a video internet link, or telephone, so after an initial meeting, this could be set up.
Clients may choose to use one or more creative arts media if they wish to work with their thoughts and feelings through the additional metaphor of creative expression, here called Creative Counselling.

If anyone feels that they would like to work outdoors, please contact me to talk about what may suit you. It could be walking and talking or working in an outdoor place, we can talk about what may be a possible way to work safely together. I can offer an outdoor space as part of my therapy areas.
